What is BASIX?
BASIX is The Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) it's aim is to deliver equitable, effective water and greenhouse gas reductions across the state and encourages people to reduce energy use through specific design strategies for lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation. These environmental outcomes also provides a long term financial savings for the homeowner - and a valuable contribution to the sustainable future of our communities. BASIX is an online assessment tool that checks the elements of a proposed design against sustainability targets and is an integrated part of the planning system that's implemented under the Environmental Planning Act and applies to all residential dwelling types and is part of the development application process in NSW.

At icono, we take the stress out of planning by organising everything from council approvals, soils testing, surveying, and organising of the BASIX certificate for you as part of our role for your home design.
