Atherton Crescent Residence
A quality family home was the clients brief, in his words , "I'm only
going to build one house - so I'm going to do it right".
The site is steeply sloping with expansive views to the east. The house
was to be contemporary, utilise the natural slope of the land with split
level design and was to include a variety of materials. It was also to
provide efficient solar access and was to enjoy the eastern views,
particularly from the main bedroom suite.
The building is designed over 3 levels that step up the site. The front
facade, built over two storeys, is articulated to reduce the bulk of the
form from the street. Visitors are greeted in the entry foyer with a 7.2m
high ceiling and a custom designed forged steel balustrade. The living
and outdoor areas extend along the entire northern side of the residence.
The family living area and main bedroom are afforded spectacular lake,
suburban & rural views over eastern Wagga Wagga. The rear of the
house is nestled into bushland reserve to the west .
Increased ceiling height through the centre of the living areas creates
interesting changes in volume. Quality finishes combine to complement
this light filled, spacious home.
