My husband and I have had the pleasure of working with Mr Rod McMullen of Icono on the design of our residential dwelling since February 2011. Mr McMullen has worked closely with us at all stages of this process, incorporating our ideas and offering his own unique solutions to the many intricate problems our house design dreams and geographical challenges have presented. We were privileged to be able to see his design evolve as each aspect of the project was considered and we have a valuable record of this process in the many sketches and plans both his and ours that are now coming to fruition in a remarkable and unique home, 'Claireview'. Rod offered us his invaluable knowledge and enthusiasm for our design and ecological requirements by offering a variety of new and traditional solutions from which we could select or reject products according to our budget and ethical standards. At all times Mr McMullen kept us informed of the legal and council requirements that were part of the design and construction process. We remain very grateful for the time and the expertise he offered in both interpreting and assisting us to complete the legal labyrinth that surrounded this project. He was always timely in providing us with the necessary documentation for the approvals process and it was evident that he had a sound working relationship with council building and engineering officers and a good understanding of local council requirements for this project. Although this has been a lengthy client, architect relationship to bring 'Claireview' to fruition, both my husband and I cannot imagine a building of such appropriate and beautiful uniqueness without the outstanding architectural skills provided by Mr McMullen and the staff of Icono.

    D'Anvers & Associates

I have worked on a number of projects over the last 15 years as Project Manager with Rod McMullen of Icono Design as the Building Designer. Rod works well as a team member, his design and documentation has both flair and practicality and he is always on the alert for suggestions and alternative products that can save money for his clients. His design team is able to work to the tightest programme and his attention to detail in finalising contracts is of the highest order.

    Hughes Trueman Consulting Engineers Wagga

The undersigned has known Rod McMullen for 15 years as a staff member, friend and more recently as a client. Rod worked as structural draftsman for Hughes Trueman in the Wagga Wagga office before training and working as and Architectural draftsman. More recently Hughes Trueman has provided engineering services to Rod in his capacity as working director of his own Architectural drafting firm. Rod has always been enthusiastic and competent in his work. As a building designer, he thinks out the solutions, always calling on assistance when necessary, and prepares documentation to an excellent standard. Projects usually proceed with a minimum of problems as the details are sorted out in the design stage. Rod is easy to work with, accepts advice, and is always courteous and polite to both clients and consultants. Rod performs at the highest level in his discipline and I am confident in recommending Rod to provide building design and drafting services to future clients.

    Master School Portraits

In 2010 MSP Photography moved to a new purpose built facility in Ball Place, Wagga Wagga. The building was designed by Icono Building Design and constructed by ICG Construction Group. MSP Photography specialises in school photography services to schools throughout Australia through a network of franchisees and all production of the school photos is carried out in the new Resource Centre in Wagga. The building was designed to provide comfort and safety for the people who work here and also to cater for an efficient workflow. When inside the building, the extensive use of glass allows plenty of daylight which provides an open and warm feeling, however energy efficiency is maintained with double glazing throughout. Congratulations to Rod McMullen and his team at Icono in designing a building that is not only a pleasant and comfortable place to work, but is also energy efficient and allows for a very efficient workflow for our business.

We have worked with Icono for many years on varied projects residential and commercial. Further Rod is always good to discuss the issues with allowing the best solutions to be achieved.
